Nam Sai Gon Polytechnic College – Ho Chi Minh City was established based on the upgrade of the Vocational Training Center of District 8 into the Vocational High School of District 8. It was later renamed Nam Sai Gon Technical and Vocational High School, then upgraded to Nam Sai Gon Technical and Vocational Secondary School, and is now known as Nam Sai Gon Polytechnic College, in accordance with the following legal decisions:
- Decision No. 73/QĐ-UB dated August 6, 1985, issued by the People’s Committee of District 8, on the establishment of the Vocational Training Center of District 8.
- Decision No. 3702/QĐ-UB-VX dated July 17, 1998, issued by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, on converting the Vocational Training Center of District 8 into the Vocational High School of District 8 under the Department of Education and Training.
- Decision No. 7346/QĐ-UB-VX dated November 30, 1999, issued by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, on renaming the Vocational High School of District 8 to Nam Sai Gon Technical and Vocational High School under the Department of Education and Training.
- Decision No. 2634/QĐ-UBND dated May 28, 2009, issued by the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, on renaming Nam Sai Gon Technical and Vocational High School to Nam Sai Gon Technical and Vocational Secondary School.
- Decision No. 757/QĐ-LĐTBXH dated June 18, 2018, issued by the Ministry of Labor – Invalids and Social Affairs, on the establishment of Nam Sai Gon Polytechnic College.
